The Method / Minimalist Routines
The three-product system. Scalp-first philosophy applied to every hair type — nothing more, nothing less. Efficacy over accumulation.
Start with the scalp
The root of every hair problem lives on the scalp. Address it first, always.
Three products maximum
More is not better. The minimum effective dose framework achieves superior results with less.
Consistency over complexity
A simple routine followed consistently outperforms an elaborate one followed sporadically.
For sebum-prone scalps that feel greasy within 24 hours of washing. Targets overactive sebaceous glands and restores microbiome balance.
Wash frequency: 3–4× weekly
pH-Balanced Clarifying Cleanser
Salicylic acid (0.5–2%) + zinc PCA to regulate sebum production. Sulfate-free formula at pH 4.5–5.5 preserves the scalp barrier while deeply cleansing. Apply directly to scalp only, not lengths.
Lightweight Slip Conditioner
Lightweight formula — no silicones, minimal oils. Apply mid-length to ends only. Key: never apply to the scalp. Detangles without weighing down oil-prone roots.
Scalp Balancing Tonic
Leave-in scalp treatment with witch hazel, tea tree, and prebiotics. Applied post-wash on damp scalp. Reduces rebound sebum production and keeps the microbiome in check between wash days.
Pro Technique
Double-cleanse on wash days: first pass removes product buildup, second pass cleanses the scalp. Spend 2 full minutes massaging the cleanser into the scalp — not the hair. This stimulates circulation and ensures thorough cleansing.
For chronically dry, brittle hair that lacks elasticity and shine. Deep moisture replenishment with barrier-rebuilding actives.
Wash frequency: 2× weekly
Hydrating Sulfate-Free Shampoo
Gentle cleansing with glycerin, hyaluronic acid, and ceramides. Cleans without stripping. The goal is to cleanse the scalp while leaving the natural lipid layer on the hair shaft intact.
Intensive Moisture Mask
Weekly deep conditioning with shea butter, argan oil, and hydrolyzed keratin. Leave on for 15–20 minutes under a shower cap. Heat activates penetration — use on wash day, not mid-week.
Sealing Hair Oil
A blend of jojoba and rosehip oils applied to damp hair to lock in moisture. The LOC method: Liquid (water) → Oil → Cream seals each layer. Focus on ends — the oldest, most depleted part of the hair shaft.
For wavy through coily hair types (2A–4C). Frizz control through moisture locking and curl pattern enhancement. The Curly Girl method, distilled.
Wash frequency: 1–2× weekly
Co-wash or Gentle Sulfate-Free Shampoo
Curly hair is structurally drier due to the spiral shaft making it harder for sebum to travel down. Use a co-wash (conditioner cleanser) for tight coils. A gentle sulfate-free shampoo is fine for looser waves. Scrunch to cleanse, never rub.
Rich Leave-In Conditioner
Applied to soaking wet hair, section by section. Detangle with a wide-tooth comb while the conditioner is in. High slip formula with BTMS-50, panthenol, and glycerin. The foundation of defined, frizz-free curls.
Curl-Defining Gel or Cream
Applied over leave-in while hair is soaking wet. Gel creates a hard cast that breaks once dry for the "scrunch out the crunch" technique. Flaxseed gel is excellent for lighter definition. Heavier creams suit tighter coils.
Precision scalp care for men. Addresses the specific challenges of male hair biology — higher DHT, increased sebum, and androgenic hair loss patterns.
Wash frequency: 3–4× weekly
2-in-1 Scalp Cleanser with Anti-DHT Actives
Saw palmetto (5%) and pumpkin seed oil act as natural DHT blockers directly on the scalp. Zinc pyrithione addresses dandruff, which affects 50% of men. Biotin-enriched for follicle support. The most efficient single product for men's scalp health.
Lightweight Conditioning Rinse
Short-contact (2-minute) lightweight conditioner for the lengths. Men's hair is typically shorter, so a rinse-off conditioner applied briefly is sufficient. Avoid silicones that cause buildup on frequently washed hair.
Caffeine & Peptide Scalp Serum
Daily-use scalp serum with caffeine (stimulates follicles), rosemary oil (clinically comparable to minoxidil), and copper peptides (GHK-Cu). Applied to a dry scalp, massaged in for 2 minutes. The most impactful single step for thinning prevention.
For heat-damaged, chemically processed, or mechanically stressed hair. Structural repair at the cortex level — not cosmetic masking.
Wash frequency: 1–2× weekly
Bond-Repairing Treatment Shampoo
Bis-aminopropyl diglycol dimaleate (Olaplex's active ingredient technology) or similar maleic acid bond-builders. Repairs disulfide bonds broken by bleach and heat at the cortex level. Use 2× weekly during the acute repair phase.
Protein-Fortified Reconstructor Mask
Hydrolyzed keratin, rice protein, and quinoa protein penetrate the cortex to fill structural voids. Applied after shampooing under heat for 20–30 minutes. Use every 2 weeks — over-proteining without moisture balance causes brittleness.
Heat Protection & Cuticle Sealing Serum
Cyclomethicone and dimethicone coat the cuticle, sealing the repaired bonds and providing thermal protection up to 450°F. Applied before any heat styling. The seal step is as important as the repair step — without it, repaired bonds are immediately re-broken.
Damage Repair Timeline
Acute repair phase (4–6 weeks): 2× weekly bond-rebuilding, weekly protein treatment, no heat styling. Maintenance phase: 1× monthly protein treatment, heat protectant always. New growth from a healthy scalp is the only permanently repaired hair.
